Terms & Acceptable Use

The deal, in plain language

Pre-launch draft · Last updated May 2026
Pre-launch draft. Deviled Eggs isn't open for sending yet — this is the agreement you'll accept when account signups go live, shared now in the spirit of being upfront. We'll finalize it (with legal review) before the service launches.

The short version

1. What Deviled Eggs is

A service for sharing a single piece of content (usually a link to a video, reel, clip, or article hosted elsewhere) with a person you care about, delivered anonymously on your behalf with a short, warm note. The purpose is to help people consider perspectives outside their usual feed without it becoming a personal fight. We take no side on the topics shared.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or send content. By using the service you confirm that you are. We do not knowingly allow minors to use the sending features.

3. Who you may contact

You may only reach people whose real email or phone number you already have through a genuine personal connection. You agree not to use purchased, scraped, harvested, or auto-generated contact information; not to contact strangers or public figures; and not to discover, guess, or enumerate other people's contact details through the service.

Possessing someone's contact is a safeguard against spam — it is not permission to harass. We cannot verify the nature of your relationship, so the rules below carry the weight.

4. Acceptable use — share ideas, not attacks

Deviled Eggs is for sharing a point of view, never for telling someone what's wrong with them. Prohibited: harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, or stalking; anonymous personal attacks or passive-aggressive messages aimed at a person rather than an idea; repeated unwanted contact or evading a block/opt-out; and impersonation.

Strong feelings, hard truths, uncomfortable-but-real footage, and even salty language are allowed — that's honest conversation. The line is content that is illegal or aimed to harm, not content that's merely challenging or that someone disagrees with.

5. Content that is never allowed

Regardless of intent, you may not share, link to, or upload: content that sexually exploits or endangers minors (reported to NCMEC and law enforcement, zero tolerance); pornography or sexually explicit material; gratuitous gore or shock violence; content promoting terrorism, mass violence, or self-harm; doxxing or release of others' private information; malware, phishing, scams, or deceptive links; or content that infringes someone else's intellectual property.

6. Anonymity and accountability

You are anonymous to the recipient — your name is never shown to them. You are not anonymous to Deviled Eggs; every account maps to a real, traceable identity on our back end. We may suspend or ban accounts, remove content, and — in cases of genuine harassment, abuse, or illegal activity — disclose your identity to law enforcement and report illegal material to authorities. Anonymity is a kindness offered to recipients, never a shield for abuse.

7. Recipients' rights

If someone shares with you, you can always — at no cost and without creating an accountblock the anonymous sender permanently, opt out of Deviled Eggs entirely, or report anything harmful. Reporting and opting out never count against you in any way.

8. How content reaches you

A first message from a new sender arrives as a content-light invitation — you choose whether to open the actual content; nothing is force-loaded onto your screen on first contact. You may also receive a link to a short page explaining what Deviled Eggs is before you view anything.

9. Limits

To keep this gentle, both sending and receiving are rate-limited: there are caps on how often any one person can send, and on how often any one person can be contacted across all senders combined. Cold outreach to people not yet on the service is the most tightly limited. These limits exist to prevent flooding and spam — not to maximize engagement.

10. Content screening — what we can and can't promise

We screen in layers: automated checks on every item (malware/safe-browsing checks, hash-matching against known illegal-content databases, and classifiers for explicit or violent material), human review of anything flagged or of first-contact from new accounts, and human review of anything reported. We do not, and cannot, promise to personally review every item before delivery. You acknowledge that content is created by other users; that screening is imperfect and some objectionable content may reach you; that by using the service you accept the possibility of receiving content you disagree with or find upsetting, in exchange for the openness the service is built around; and that your remedy is always immediate — block, opt out, report.

11. Enforcement

Violations are handled with escalating consequences: a warning, reduced reach, suspension, and finally a permanent ban. Illegal content and credible threats are escalated immediately, reported to authorities where required, and are grounds for immediate termination and identity disclosure.

12. Privacy

Our handling of your information is described in our privacy policy. In short: we collect as little as possible, never sell your data or run ads, and you can request deletion at any time.

13. No warranty; limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Deviled Eggs is not liable for content shared by users or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; we'll note the date of the latest version and flag material changes. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
